Congratulations to Nathan Mattson of Costa Mesa for winning Bike of the Month with his 1950 Triumph Thunderbird 650.

Nathan had some strong competition today for Bike of the Month. Gerhard Schnuerer with his 1943 BMW R75 Military motorcyle with sidecar came in second and Mike Jongblood with his 1965 Ducati Mach III came in a close third. Both of which could have easily won on any other day.

Nathan has owned his T-Bird for four years and customized it from the ground up.

The unique feature of this bike is the internally sprung rear hub. The Sprung Hub was introduced in 1948 and used until 1952.

See all the pictures in our October Gallery. Thank you Nathan for bringing it to the meet.

The Bike of the Month contest is held monthly at the Vintage Bike OC meet. Qualifying motorcycles must be 30 years old or older. Former Bike of the Month winning bikes are not eligible to win again. Anyone attending the meet is eligible to enter a qualifying bike in the contest and vote for their favorite bike. The winning bike is chosen by a popular vote and is featured on the Home page for one month and in this feature article. The Bike of the Month articles are permanent content on the site.
