Congratulations to Bill Melvin of Spruce, Michigan for winning Bike of the Month with his 1957 Moto Guzzi Falconi.
Bill won a Mr. Pete's Grill T-shirt and hat.
He and his wife spend their summers in Michigan, and winters in Mission Viejo.
Bill has only owned the Falconi for two months. He bought it at the Las Vegas Auction in it's current condition. His first ride was yesterday.
The bike was fully restored prior to Bill buying it, but it had never run. He had to tighten every bolt.
The bike has very good handling for a machine of that vintage. The front suspension is inverted forks and the rear suspension is a cantelevered mono shock with cork dampeners. I shot some closeup photos of the unique rear suspension in our gallery.
Bill installed a hand shifter on the right side of the bike to make it easier for him to ride.
Although it's his first time to our meet, he is no stanger to motorcycles or the Orange County community. He is good friends with Greg McBride our resident
Vincent rider and co-founcer of this very group back in 2004.
Liquid Asset Partners
Bill has spent his entire career in the motorcycle industry. He owns more than 50 bikes and founded the company Liquid Asset Partners.
Now run by his son, Liquid Asset Partners has liquidated virtually every defunct motorcycle company in the US. Indian in Gilroy, CA and Buell were two of the largest.
Thanks Bill for bringing it to our meet. See all the photos in our April Gallery.
