Congratulations to Dave Zamiska of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1954 BSA A7-500. This is the third month in a row where Dave placed in the Bike of the Month contest. Finally there were no cute little mini-bikes to take the title away. I say that with jest, because Dave couldn't believe that his beautifully restored 1954 British classic would loose to custom mini-bikes. It just shows you that anything goes at Vintage Bike OC.
This bike is a low numbered hot rod. The engine number is 114. The Model is know as the Shooting Star. The Shooting Star came from the factory with a high performance ground cam, an aluminum head and high compression pistons.
Dave has owned this bike for eight months. When he bought it, it was aesthetically perfect but mechanically rough. Steve Woods is the BSA mechanic who helped Dave to get it running perfectly.
Raber's Parts Mart in San Jose has been Dave's supplier for BSA parts. Mike Raber has been instrumental in acquiring the correct parts. Visit their website at www.Rabers.com.
Thank you Dave for bringing it to our meet for the third time and having patience to wait out the mini-bike craze. See all the photos in our August Gallery.
