Congratulations to Dave Roberts of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1952 Triumph 6T custom.
This bike is another example of a family heirloom. Dave's father built this bike in 1964 using typical custom parts from the late 50's early 60's. The bike is a pre-unit with a rigid frame. Dave explained the "pre-unit" as a separate 4 speed transmission from the engine case. Later Triumph built the engine and transmission cases as one part.
The bike has a Hunt magnito and a period correct Wassel tank and rear fender. Wassel built custom motorcycle parts back in the 1950's.
Dave resurected the bike two years ago after forty years of storage with the goal in mind of keeping as his dad intended in 1964.
The paint was done by Andrew of Eightball Rods & Choppers in Placentia and the rebuild was done by Tony Dunn of Classic Cycles in Orange. You may remember Tony as the builder of Brown Sugar, our December 2010 Bike of the Month winner. He seems to have his hand in many of the cool Triumphs.
Thank you Dave for bringing it to our meet.
I shot a lot of photos in our February Gallery.
