Congratulations to Ken Deagle of Westminster for winning Bike of the Month with his 1974 Kawasaki Z1 900 Drag Bike.
Ken won a plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.
Ken's father bought this bike brand new in 1974. In 1982 he through a rod and gave it to Ken while he was in high school.
In 1984 Ken turned it into a drag bike raced it until 1989 when he sold the bike.
In 1985 he was the Top Eliminator at the MDRA Summer Nationals in the AA/AB class.
He was also the Drag Bike USA, Western Division Champion in the OHC/Funny Bike class.
Fast Forward to 2021, Ken started a search for his long past drag bike. A Facebook post lead
to a private message from the current owner in Phoenix. After confirming that it was the same bike, Ken bought it back.
Ken has spent his career working on performance engine parts.
Ken worked for Russ Collins of RC Engineering for 10 years developing turbo chargers and engine components.
RC Eng. also has two other famous alums, Terry Vance and Byron Hines who left RC to form Vance and Hines.
After his time with RC Eng., Ken worked for 17 years at Cosworth developing Indy car engines.
