1966 BMW R50/2

Congratulations to Marcus Davin of Newport Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1966 BMW R50/2. Marcus won a $20.00 Beach Burgers gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution.

This was Marcus' first time to our meet. He has owned the bike for one year. He bought it in it's current condition from Mark Nakvasil in Oregon, who restored it.

Marcus may have gotten more votes had it not been for Shawn Boeker of Garden Grove who rode his pristine 1966 BMW R60/2. Almost twins, Shawn always takes many votes.

The R50/2 was produced from 1955 through 1969.

Marcus also owns a 1938 BMW R12 which he promised to bring to a future meet. I hope he does.

The Bike of the Month contest is held monthly at the Vintage Bike OC meet. Qualifying motorcycles must be 30 years old or older. Former Bike of the Month winning bikes are not eligible to win again. Anyone attending the meet is eligible to enter a qualifying bike in the contest and vote for their favorite bike. The winning bike is chosen by a popular vote and is featured on the Home page for one month and in this feature article. The Bike of the Month articles are permanent content on the site.
