July Vintage Bike OC Meet
Cat Eyes

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Perfect weather today for a meet, but it was lightly attended. I really expected a record crowd and we ended up with 67 bikes, mostly newer ones. Not that it matters, we had an excellent competition for Bike of the Month with the top two bikes being one vote apart.

Bike of the Month - Randi Coddington

Congratulations to Randi Coddington of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with her 1965 Harley Davidson FLH Electra Glide.

Randi won the Bike of the Month plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. www.RussBrown.com.

This was Randi's first time at our meet with a motorcycle that she's owned for 35 years. She didn't show up with the idea of winning, in fact I had to ask her to move her bike to enter the contest.

Read all about Randi's 1965 Harley Davidson FLH Electra Glide on our Bike of the Month page.

Second Place - Baird Bergenthal

Baird Bergenthal of Midway City took for Second place with his 1962 Ducati Piuma 48.

Baird has been coming to our meets for years, but lately he's been bringing something special nearly every month and getting in the top three.

He has owned the Ducati for about a year, and has done a full restoration on it. I expect that he will win Bike of the Month with it soon, it was so close today.

He has won Bike of the Month twice in the past:
May 2021 1963 Batavus Bilonet
December 2014 1957 Moto Beta

Honorable Mention - Armand Maisterra
Armand Maisterra of Seal Beach with his 1972 Harley Davidson
At 85 years old, I've decided to give an Honorable mention to Armand Maisterra of Seal Beach for his 1972 Harley Davidson.

This is the first time I've seen Armand's 1972 Harley Davidson at our meet. It was so clean I thought it was new. I didn't get much information from Armand about his bike or how long he's owned it, but I assume he's had it for quite some time.

Art Hall - In Memoriam

Armand Maisterra was a long time friend of Art Hall and told me today that Art passed away earlier this year. Art was a photographer for Quick Throttle Magazine and often at our meets. I would also run into Art at the Long Beach Grand Prix.

I've been unable to find more information about him. If you know Art and have more information please let me know.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. A special thanks to John Zindler for helping out with the voting today. Debbie and Tom Hopkins were unable to attend today, I look forward to seeing them again soon.

I'll see you all next month on August 8, 2021.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
