1956 Garelli Mosquito Sport 50
Congratulations to Baird Bergenthal of Midway City for winning Bike of the Month with his 1956 Garelli Mosquito Sport 50.
Baird won a plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.
Baird usually shows up with something unusual, mostly small Italian bikes. He has been trying to win with this one for almost five years.
This is how it looked when he bought it.
The Mosquito's original 50cc head was trashed when he bought it, so now it sports 98cc and a 4 speed transmission.
These are extremely rare bikes in the US. Baird believes that it's the first year of this model.
Baird did extensive work to bring it back to life, one of the unique features is the extra spark plug holder in
the side tool kit.
Here's a fun video of Sean Ewing (also from our group) chasing down Baird on the way to the Donut Shop.
No speed laws were broken in the production of this video.
Thank you Baird for bringing your Mosquito out for all of us to see. See all the photos in our October Gallery.
