Huntington Beach, Calif. -
It started a little gray today, with only 15 bikes at 2:00,
but by the end we had sunshine and a great meet. The
HB Concours was happening today, and some were drawn to that.
Overall we had 38 bikes, but mostly vintage. Of the vintage
bikes almost half were first time attendees. What a great meet.
BAM: Breakdown and Legal Assistance for Motorcyclists
A So Cal Marketing Representatives for Russ Brown Motorcycle
Attorneys wasn't available today to promote their BAM program.

Six bikes took the majority of the votes today, and I think all were first time
being shown at our meet. Norm Michaud of Huntington Beach took First easily with
his custom Honda, but there are several worth mentioning.
Bike of the Month - Norm Michaud
Norm Michaud of Huntington Beach with his 1984 Honda Ascot Custom
Congratulations to Norm Michaud of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month
with his 1984 Honda Ascot Custom.
Norm has come to our meet off and on since its inception. Today he brought a winner.
He has only owned the Honda for a couple of months. It's loaded with custom bits.
Read all about his 1984 Honda Ascot Custom on our Bike of the Month page.
Second Place - Steve Ames
Steve Ames of Santa Ana with his 1981 BMW R80 G/S Paris Dakar.
Congratulations to Steve Ames of Santa Ana for winning Second Place with his 1981 BMW R80.
Steve has owned the Paris Dakar for two years. It came out of an estate sale. He did a cosmetic restoration with new paint
on the tank and bodywork and a new seat.
Steve won Bike of the Month back in January 2022
with his 1992 BMW R100 GS: January 2022 Bike of the Month
Third Place - Ralph Castor
Ralph Castor of Modjeska Canyon with his 1952 Harley Davidson Hydra Glide.
Congratulations to Ralph Castor of Modjeska Canyon for winning Third Place with his 1952 Harley Davidson Hydra Glide.
Ralph has owned his Harley for 57 years. It was his first motorcycle that he bought at 16 years old. In the early days he had
it as a chopper, and the current restoration was done in the 1970's.
His father worked for an Indian parts dealer. Hence the Indian speedometer which was given to him free if he used it on his Harley.
I hope Ralph will bring this bike back so he can win first place.
Honorable Mentions
As I said, there were many choice bikes to vote on, here are four more that got some votes.
- 1978 Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans, Jeff Pearson - Newport Beach
- 1993 Ducati 907 IE, Kelly Fry - Whittier
- 1991/92 BMW K1 - major fail on the info gathering
- 1969 Harley Davidson FLH, Stanley Chavic - Orange
Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. Thanks to Sarah Upton for helping with the
voting this month.
Next month's meet is, July 13, 2025. I'll see you all there.
Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
