July Vintage Bike OC Meet
Russ Collins badge

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was a great meet today, it was a little overcast and started off slow but ended with a bunch of great bikes to check out, including a very rare 1975 Grand Prix racing bike. 51 people showed up to make it a great afternoon.

BAM: Breakdown and Legal Assistance for Motorcyclists
No So Cal Marketing Representatives for Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys were available today to promote their BAM program. Learn more about it at: www.RussBrown.com

Again, Phillip de Lespinay brought a 1975 Morbidelli Grand Prix racing motorcycle. He wasn't interested in competing only here to share his passion. That gave the rest of the field a fighting chance for a win, and we had a great competition.

We have an honorable mention page for this unique piece of history.

Congratulations to Randy Ressell of Westminster for winning Third Place with his 1935 Cyc-Auto Anthony. Randy has been trying to win Bike of the Month for nearly 20 years with this bike! He first rode it to our meet in June 2008.

From Randy:

1935 Prototype Motorbike
Built by the Anthony Mfg. Company in Streator Ill.

The Anthony Mfg. Company made only two of these motorized cycles, one mans and one ladies model. These prototypes were built using the British Cyc-Auto Motor.

The plan was to import these motors and mate them with an American styled chassis and market them as economical transportation. Shortly after these prototypes were finished the Cyc-Auto company changed from this style motor to one built by Villers.

Shortly after that change, the Cyc-Auto Company was sold to the Scott Motorcycle Co. The Scott Co. continued to produce Motorized Cycles until the 1950's.

The Cyc-Auto is credited with creating the Autocycle (as motorized bicycles were called in England). These were built 5 years before the first Whizzers were manufactured.

Randy has won Bike of the Month twice in the past:

January 2015 1965 Triumph Dual Sport

This 1975 Morbidelli Grand Prix Bike is so special, that I've decided to make a special page for it: 1975 Morbidelli Grand Prix Bike page.

Philippe has won Bike of the Month once in the past and another Honorable Mention:
May 2026 (Honorable Mention) 1972 Derbi Grand Prix
April 2026 (Bike of the Month) 1966 Honda RC116

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. Thanks to John Zindler for helping with the voting this month.

Next month's meet is, August 9, 2026. I'll see you all there.

Keep On Ridin',
