Congratulations to Andrew Hopkins of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1969 Honda Z50A K1 Mini Trail (Monkey). Andrew has been building this bike for 6 months, and is still sorting it out.
Andrew is the mechanic at our sponsor The Scooter Solution in Fountain Valley. Andrew built this bike around the SSR engine which they are dealer of. The SSR engine is a clone of a Kawasaki top end mated to a Honda bottom end. It's a 160cc single with a 4 speed manual transmission. The original transmission was a clutchless 3 speed.
There isn't a lot to say about this bike, because there isn't a lot to it.
He managed to register it with the DMV, but according to Andrew, the bike has:
- 99 Vehicle Code Violations
- 65+ mph
- 8 inch wheels
- Comes with it's own burial plot.
- Slows down good, hardly stops
- responsible for Osama Bin Laden's death
Thank you Andrew for bringing it to our meet and reminding us, that there is more to life than Concours Events. See all the photos in our June Gallery.
