Congratulations to Steve Ames of Santa Ana for winning Bike of the Month with his 1992 BMW R100 GS.
Steve won a plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.
This is the newest and most modern bike ever to win Bike of the Month. Just eligible as of this month, it qualifies
by being 30 years old. Most of us think of Vintage as from the 1970's or older, but we need to keep moving the bar for eligibility.
I think this is the first time Steve has brought his GS to the meet. It's so clean, many people thought he trailored it in.
Steve has owned and riden the bike for 16 years and keeps it in impeccable condition.
Steve says his GS is just an excellent all around bike for touring, on and off road. The 1992 model still included a kick-start.
Produced since 1980, you can read more about the GS series here: Wikipedia: BMW GS
Steve made his career in law enforcement, and for a while was a Motor Officer. He also has collection of vintage motorcycles including a couple of Nortons, a
Triumph Trident and a Ducati Darhma. Hopefully he will bring some of those to our meet now that he has a taste of winning.
Thank you Steve for bringing your 1992 BMW R100 GS out for all of us to see. See all the photos in our January Gallery.

The Bike of the Month contest is held monthly at the Vintage Bike OC meet. Qualifying motorcycles must be 30 years old or older. Former Bike of the Month winning bikes are not eligible to win again.
Anyone attending the meet is eligible to enter a qualifying bike in the contest and vote for
their favorite bike. The winning bike is chosen by a popular vote and is featured on the Home page for one month and in this feature article. The Bike of the Month articles are permanent content on the site.
