February Vintage Bike OC Meet
Moto Guzi Speedometer

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was a rainy day here in HB today. I thought for the first time that we may have to cancel the meet. At 1:45 Larry Rehfeldt showed up on his 1990 Harley Davidson Softail FXSTC in the rain. We were thinking he may be the winner when two more people showed up. When all was said and done we had eight people brave the rain for the meet.

The voting today was by a show of hands, and unfortunately Frank Colver was inside the restaurant when it all went down and missed the vote. He told me later that his vote would have been for the Guzzi anyhow. It was around 2:10 and the rain was looking like it was going to let up, so we took a quick vote.

Bike of the Month - Dave Palmer
Dave Palmer and his 1972 Moto Guzzi Eldorado 850
Congratulations to Dave Palmer of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1972 Moto Guzzi Eldorado 850. Dave won the Bike of the Month plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. www.RussBrown.com.

Dave has been bringing this bike to our meet for ten years. He had moved out of state for six of those, and was glad that we were still around when he moved back to California.

Read all about Dave's 1972 Moto Guzzi Eldorado 850 on our Bike of the Month page.

Second Place - Steve Woods
1971 Triumph Bonneville
Steve Woods of Huntington Beach won Second place with his 1971 Triumph Bonneville.

Third Place - Larry Rehfeldt
1990 Harley Davidson Softail FXSTC
Larry Rehfeldt of Huntington Beach took Third place with his 1990 Harley Davidson Softail FXSTC. We thought Larry was going to win by default, but then some strong competition showed up. Larry bought this custom Softail from a friend of his who was having issues with it. After sorting it all out, he has himself a very nice bike.

Other Vintage Bikes
Dave Zamiska, Huntington Beach - 1954 BSA A7-500
Dave won Bike of the Month back in August 2011 with his beautifully restored BSA.

John Zindler, Costa Mesa - 1973 Triumph Tiger 650
Dave Francis, Huntington Beach - 1980 Yamaha 650 SX
Guillermo Ramas, Redondo Beach - 1971 Honda CB500 four

Farthest Traveled
Guillermo Ramas showed up after 3:00 riding all the way from Redondo Beach in the rain. I didn't know that he was here for the meet until I went to leave and saw his awesome CB500 out in the lot. It was his first meet, and I'm sure he'll be back for more.

Newer Bike
Bill Harris, Huntington Beach - 2002 Honda Rebel 250 (Bill's wife's bike...)
Bill gets a pass because he won Bike of the Month back in November 2009 with his fully restored 1917 Indian Powerplus.

Even with the rain, I had a great afternoon. Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. A special thanks to Debbie and Tom Hopkins for helping out with the voting today. I'll see you at next month's meet, March 8, 2020.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
