Congratulations to Robb Ezzell of Corona Del Mar for winning Bike of the Month with his 1951 BMW R25/2.
Robb won a plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.
Robb has owned this bike for nearly 50 years, buying it when he was 18 years old on a trip to Germany in 1970 just out of High School.
According to the seller, it was a Swiss Army surplus bike in drab green that he purchased for $220.00. He
had it shipped back to the US for $250.00, more than the purchase price.
He rode it for several years, and then took it apart to to paint it. It stayed apart for about 30 years until
six years ago, he put it back together and got it running.
That 1970 European vacation was quite a trip, while Robb was in London he purchased a 1970 Triumph Daytona 500 fresh from the factory
in the crate. He also had that bike shipped back to the US and considers it his "daily driver" today.
It's pretty incredible that someone would not only make these two purchases on the same trip, but still own both bikes 50 years later.
It's stories like these that make this group awesome.
Thank you Robb for bringing your BMW out for all of us to see. See all the photos in our October Gallery.
